What it is
Running an application as containers on machines we control, with the whole arrangement declared in files rather than assembled by hand in a console.
Why we chose it
Some workloads do not fit a serverless runtime: long-running processes, background workers, heavy dependencies, or simply a cost curve that stops making sense at scale. For those we use Kubernetes on Hetzner, provisioned with Terraform, with Traefik for ingress and images published to a registry by CI. Traffic reaches it through a Cloudflare tunnel, so nothing is exposed directly. This is deliberately the second option rather than the first — it buys control at the price of having to operate it, and that trade only pays above a certain size.
